SYDNEY: Sydney-born Armenian-Australian Chris Alajajian has taken out his second consecutive round win in the Hertz MINI Challenge, during last weekend's Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
Alajajian finished ahead of 2009 champion Paul Stokell. The former Australian go-kart champion managed podium finishes in all three races for the weekend, finishing second in race 1, a charging third from seventh in race 2, and a win in race 3.
The successful weekend sees Alajajian, affectionately referred to as ‘The Chris' in racing circles, take a 67 point lead in the overall series for 2010.
He told Armenia Online: "We finished all three races on the podium this weekend and it was great to be able to end the weekend with a race and round win.
"Two round wins in a row is really making things look good for my championship hopes. I had a few issues on the last couple of laps, where the car was cutting in and out of power with the finish line in sight, but luckily the car stayed strong and for that, I need to thank my Standox/Jack Hillermans race team."
Alajajian, looking forward to Queensland Raceway on 30 April-2 May, added: "I can't wait to see what round three will bring."
Channel 7 Australia will broadcast Alajajian's Round 1 effort in at the Adelaide Clipsal 500 on April 10 @ 1:30pm.
