SYDNEY: The 2010 Galstaun College Musical Review is heavily into rehearsal mode, and the students involved are putting in an extraordinary amount of effort to ensure they deliver a weekend to remember this September.

Galstaun College Head of Performing Arts, Andrea Getley said: "The musical will be the first of its kind at Galstaun College, and will incorporate songs from ten different musicals, as well as acting scenes, energetic choreography and a live student band."

She added: "Students have been rehearsing in their own time, after school, every Wednesday since March this year, and on top of that, requested a rehearsal in their June/July school holidays so we could polish the work we have achieved so far, and learn as much of the show as possible well ahead of performance week."

Moving forward, students will take on an extra 1 ½ hours of rehearsal every Monday after school until the performance dates.

During the holiday rehearsal, Getley and the students choreographed and blocked two new songs, completed a tap dancing number and polished the first six songs of the show.

Getley said: "The students have never experienced anything like this before, yet they conducted themselves like old professionals, and took every note and direction with maturity and respect.

"It is so encouraging to see that the students are just as excited and proud of this musical as I am, and will go to any lengths to ensure that we produce something memorable."

The Galstaun College K-12 Musical Review will perform over three days in September; Friday 10th, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th.
