SYDNEY: Galstaun College is inviting community parents to an important information evening on internet safety and security called ‘Think U Know'.
The Think U Know program is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Microsoft Australia, which aims to educate teachers and parents about the risks faced online and how to create a safe internet experience for young people.
Results from the Think U Knows pilot program in 2009 indicated that following attendance at the presentation, 88 per cent of parents, carers and teachers felt they better understood how children are using technology.
Galstaun College School Counsellor Taline Kayserian said: "As the internet is unavoidable and so widely accessible, it is important that parents are equipped with the knowledge and tools to bridge the generational knowledge gap and provide their children with the necessary online safety skills."
She added: "We welcome parents to join us on Wednesday 11th August at 7pm in the Nalbandian Hall for this presentation."
