SYDNEY: Ararat games 2014, what a day! Ells Hall erupted with cheers, joy and healthy competition on Sunday the 19th of October. On arrival, the energising sounds of Armenian music, and the appetising smells of kebab in the air, exposed what was to be an exciting day at an Armenian-Australian sporting event.
Followed by these immediate senses was the sight of so many young and enthusiastic athletes, competing at various sports such as futsal, basketball and table tennis. The standard of performance exhibited by all athletes was spectacular, with everyone giving one hundred percent to display their talents.
After a day of whole-hearted participation and great entertainment, it seemed that the achievements and medals were spread amongst all competitors. This sporting event couldn’t have come at a better time, as teams are preparing for the annual Homenetmen Navasartian Games, held during the Christmas period. No doubt all players are excited for this end of year tournament.
Ararat Games is a fantastic event in bringing together the Armenian community through sports and communal spirit. The time and efforts devoted to the organisation of this event were most definitely reflected in its success, alongside the high spirits of our Armenian athletes.
