Australia has a new Prime Minister

AUSTRALIA has a new Prime Minister — Malcolm Turnbull, after he ousted Tony Abbott in a partyroom leadership ballot.

Mr Turnbull was elected in a ballot of the Liberal party 54 to 44.

Julie Bishop was elected as Deputy Leader in a ballot against Kevin Andrews winning 70 votes to 30 after Michael Ronaldson joined the room after the first vote.
