CANBERRA: The Australian Associated Press reports that Australia has signed an agreement in air services with Turkey, ensuring direct commercial flights with Turkey.
Australians wishing to visit Turkey no longer need to fly via a stopover in Singapore or another third-party country. This is particularly relevant to Australians who travel for Gallipoli services on Anzac Day each year.
"The new agreement marks further progress towards the government's objective, as outlined in our aviation white paper, of an open and competitive international aviation market," a statement from Transport Minister Anthony Albanese told AAP.
