SYDNEY: Homenetmen Antranig, a sister organisation of Galstaun College, has announced a fundraising initiative for the Stage 1 fit-out of the Smoky Dawson Multipurpose Hall/Gymnasium at the school's Ingelside campus.
The 100/500 fundraising drive seeks to collect 500 x $100 (tax-deductable) donations from members and friends of Homenetmen Antranig and the community at large.
Homenetmen Antranig chairperson, Vatche Evanian explained his committee's reasoning behind partnering with Galstaun College for this initiative.
"Once complete, we will finally have access to a state-of-the-art training venue which will cater for all our basketball and futsal teams immediately and into the future,” said Homenetmen Antranig chairperson, Vatche Evanian.
Evanian added: "Having a training venue to call home has been the dream of the founding members of Homenetmen Australia and every committee that has represented our club over our 47 years."
"And now, with a small contribution from our wide network of members and friends, this can become a reality in a few months."
Stage 1 of the Smoky Dawson Multipurpose Hall, which will be used for the indoor sporting needs of Galstaun College and the greater Armenian and local community, was built with the financial support of the Commonwealth Government through its "Building Education Revolution" initiative, together with the dedicated contributions of community members.
"We greatly appreciate and welcome this creative initiative of Homenetmen Antranig,” said Galstaun College Board chairperson, Vicken Kalloghlian.
"Galstaun College serves the entire Sydney Armenian Community and its new Multipurpose Hall will be another very important and widely used asset, not only for our students but also for the entire community."
