20-yr old Margarita Gasparyan bows out in the first round at Wimbledon. To her luck, she drew the current number one in Women’s Tennis, Serena Williams.

Margarita Gasparyan was born in Moscow to Armenian parents. She began playing tennis at the age of five and turned professional at the age of 16. Although she is ranked 116, which is formidable for a tennis player who has only been a pro for four years, her backhand is renowned to be the best among the current young Russian tennis players. As of now she received the accolades of being the top Russian female singles tennis player along with being the top Russian female doubles player as well, among the young crop of women tennis players.

Hopefully she will become a household name when it comes to tennis, similar to her fellow compatriots Sargis Sargsian, David Nalbandian, and Andre Agassi. Even though she exited Wimbledon relatively early, she looks to have a very bright tennis career in front of her.
