YEREVAN (Razm.info)—A Russian Air Force jet that took off from the102nd Russian military base in Gyumri, Armenia was denied entry into Azeri airspace, Razm.info reports.
The jet, an Antonov AN-124 Ruslan, was traveling to Russia on Sunday, November 15 when it was forced to turn back shortly after take-off. Aviation blog mil_avia was the first to report on the incident.
The blog post includes the pilot’s radio communications with dispatchers in Gyumri. According to the records, the pilot said he was forced to return because, “the Azerbaijani military sector forbade entry to the zone.”
The 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri carries out missions and support mainly by air.
