Serzh Sarkisian, Vladamir Putin, and Ilham Aliyev are scheduled to meet in St. Petersburg, Russia to discuss Karabakh conflict at the end of June.
YEREVAN (Arka)—A tripartite summit with the presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia to discuss the Karabakh peace process is scheduled for the end of June in St. Petersburg, Russia, a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin and the French Ambassador to Russia, Jean-Maurice Ripert, discussed the preparations for the meeting.
During the May 16 meeting in Vienna, Austria, the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to work out safeguards against ceasefire violations around Nagorno-Karabakh and resume their search for a compromise peace deal to end the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
In a joint statement issued right after the Vienna talks, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs from Russia, USA and France said Aliyev and Sarkisian “reiterated their commitment to the ceasefire” and agreed to let the OSCE investigate truce violations and deploy more monitors on the Karabakh “line of contact.”
