ANKARA (Hurriyet Daily News)—”Turkey may leave the Creative Europe Program due to a continuing row over the mass murder of Armenians in 1915,” said Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Nabi Avcı, adding that Turkey would not be harmed by the decision.
“A project that would blame us in Armenian genocide allegations was supported from here. We are not involved in the decision process of this fund,” Avcı told Anadolu Agency on October 18, adding that “money is being spent on businesses that are against Turkey.”
“Our first objection is that if we are giving money here, we should have a representative in the decision process about which criteria in the work will be evaluated. It’s a very reasonable demand. I mean you become a part of something, you give money to it, several things are being done with that money, but no one asks what will be done with it. Money is being spent on things that are against you,” he said.
