Galstaun College welcomes new English and Special Ed teacher

SYDNEY: Galstaun College warmly welcomes Mrs Kerry Cumming, who recently joined our staff from a prominent North Shore private school. Mrs. Cumming brings to our school a wealth of knowledge and experience. She is highly qualified with master's degrees in both Education and Special Education and post graduate qualifications in Management, Reading Education and Religious Education.

Mrs Cumming has held executive positions for over twenty years which include Head of English Department in several schools, Education Officer for the Diocese of Maitland Newcastle, Vocational Education Co-ordinator, Manager of TAFE Literacy programs.

Mrs Cumming has experience in large independent schools, Catholic diocesan schools and small country settings. She has worked for many years with multicultural communities and with students for whom English is a second language ( ESL). Mrs Cumming was the ESL convenor for the Association for Independent Schools (AIS) for four years.

"We are delighted to have such a distinguished and highly qualified educator as Mrs Cumming join our dedicated staff of teachers at our College," said Principal Mr Kaylar Michaelian.

Head of College, Mrs Carolyn Blanden added: "Mrs Cumming will be responsible for our English studies in High School as well as managing our special needs programs throughout Years K to 12, including academic support, extension and Gifted and Talented programs."

Chairman of the Galstaun College Board, Mr Ara Vartoukian stated: "This latest appointment of such a distinguished educator again demonstrates the continuing dedication of Galstaun College to strive for educational excellence."

Mrs Cumming commented: "I am delighted to be in a school with such a strong sense of community and am looking forward to working with the teachers, students and parents of Galstaun College to bring out the best in our students."
