SYDNEY: New students wishing to enroll at Galstaun College in 2010 will be able to take special academic tests from Tuesday 18th of January and participate in the College's new Gifted and Talented Program.
Late last year, Galstaun College was very pleased to have welcomed Kerry Cumming, who joined the staff from a prominent North Shore private school as both its new High School English teacher and Special Education Co-ordinator. Mrs. Cumming has brought Galstaun College a wealth of knowledge and experience. She is highly qualified with Masters degrees in both Education and Special Education, and post graduate qualifications in Management, Reading Education and Religious Education.
"Students from K to 12 are being tested to identify each student's special needs as part of the College's dedicated academic support, extension and Gifted and Talented programs, co-ordinated by Mrs. Cumming" said Head Of College Carolyn Blanden.
"We invite those students who do not yet attend Galstaun College to participate in the testing program so that our highly qualified and specialist teachers can identify their special educational needs, and to see if they qualify for Galstaun College's Gifted and Talented Program. This is a wonderful opportunity which the College is offering to our Community. It represents significant benefits for the capable students who will be extended to achieve their full potential, which no parent should miss," Blanden added.
College Principal Kaylar Michaelian stated: "As many are already aware, Galstaun College has embarked on a major enrolment drive for 2010. This drive includes a special tuition incentive of a 50% reduction off the first year's tuition for parents who transfer their children to Galstaun College in 2010."
Michaelian added, "The testing program to identify students who may be able to take advantage of our new Gifted & Talented Program is also part of our Special Enrolment Drive. It is our goal to attract academically gifted students to Galstaun College and afford them the opportunity to take advantage of specialized teachers and unique tailored education programs we offer."
A limited number of part tuition and full tuition (means tested scholarships) are also being offered for those students who are eligible to transfer to Galstaun College under this Gifted and Talented Program.
A statement from the College Board read: "We continue to strive to be the school of choice for the entire Sydney Armenian Community. Although our tuition fees are very competitive compared to other private schools.
"Galstaun College also has a program of Bursaries providing tuition assistance for worthy students. Such applications are considered and handled in a strictly confidential manner. We firmly believe that no worthy student from our Community should be denied the unique and quality education Galstaun College provides."
