Karabakh police are seen beating a member of the Founding Parliament, which was denied access to Artsakh Satuday

STEPANAKERT (Arka)—Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Bako Sahakian has commissioned the police chief to conduct a detailed investigation into an incident that took place on Saturday in the Republic when a group of people belonging to an Armenian opposition movement were stopped and assaulted by police as they tried to enter Artsakh from Armenia.

The Founding Parliament movement, as it’s called, is staging motorcade rallies, calling for the current Armenian administration to resign by April 24.

On Saturday, the demonstrators headed for Artsakh and were beaten by the police as they tried to cross the border into Artsakh.

The police response drew condemnations from various political and civic groups in Armenia, including the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.
