YEREVAN-The Armenian Revolutionary Federation's political affairs director said in an interview with Reuters Tuesday that if President Serzh Sargsyan makes concessions in the Karabakh conflict process, then new elections would be demanded.

This follows the party's announcement recently that it, as Manoyan said, would use "every available political and constitutional means" to block ratification of the recently signed Armenia-Turkey protocols.

"If we do not succeed, the only alternative left is to go for a change of administration, to have a new president and a new national assembly which will renounce these protocols as null and void," added Manoyan.

The Reuters article focused on the opposition to the protocols, which some have hailed as historic. Reporting for the news agency, Hasmik Mkrtchyan also discusses the massive protests SargsyanSargsyan faced during his Diaspora tour, as well as the negative ramifications of the protocols on the Karabakh conflict resolution.

Turkey demands that Armenia make concessions over Nagorno-Karabakh conflict before parliament ratification of the protocols.

"I do not believe the Armenian authorities are capable of convincing the Armenian public that unilateral concessions on two fronts, namely Armenian-Turkey relations and the Karabakh conflict are necessary," Manoyan told Reuters.

"The Turkish government will use the ratification process in the Turkish parliament as leverage to try to pressure the Armenian side to give in to Azeri-Turkish demands regarding resolution of the Karabakh conflict," said Manoyan.
