STEPANAKERT (ARMENPRESS)—Factions of the National Assembly of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic have issued a statement urging Russian law enforcement bodies to release Levon Hayrapetyan. As “Armenpress” was informed from the press service of the Nagorno-Karabakh National Assembly, the statement reads as follows:
“A few days ago Zamoskvoretskiy Court of the Russian Federation published the verdict of well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist Levon Hayrapetyan on the charges of part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation and sentenced him to 4 years imprisonment.
Parliamentary factions of Artsakh National Assembly express worry over the serious health condition of Levon Hayrapetyan. The list of diseases diagnosed for Hayrapetyan (cancer, diabetes, hypertension, post-stroke condition) is a matter of serious concern, which in prison is a threat to his life.
Being a patriot and a faithful son of his people, Levon Hayrapetyan for many years carried out many charitable programs in Artsakh, contributing to the development of his home country. Strengthening the Armenian-Russian friendly relations was one of the main aspects of his activities.
Taking into account the daily deteriorating health of Levon Hayrapetyan, NKR NA factions urge the law enforcement bodies of the Russian Federation to revise the terms of imprisonment, substantially mitigate the punishment through an objective review of the case and release him under the current legislation of Russia based on humanitarian approach.
