SYDNEY: A gathering of representatives of key stakeholders of Galstaun College, including the Board, Principal, Head of College, Parents Committee, Alumni and sister organisations, placed an emphasis on expanding its promotional activities and increasing student numbers for 2011.

At the invitation of the College Board and its marketing team - the Community Relations Committee - those present at the dinner in the College's Nalbandian Hall viewed the latest videos promoting Galstaun College, which have been watched by over 2,000 Sydney Armenians over the last six weeks.

Members of the newly-formed Community Relations Committee, which includes Harmick Hacobian, Viken Kortian, Haig Kayserian, Varant Meguerditchian, Kevork Tufenkjian, Tamar Ferhad, Arin Der Vartanian and Caroline Geroyan, revealed part of their Marketing Plan for Galstaun College over the next 12 months.

The Committee's immediate task is to communicate key factors that make Galstaun College the school of choice for all parents of school-aged Sydney Armenian children.

They also announced that 2011, which marks the 25th anniversary of Galstaun College, will be celebrated by the entire community as "the Year of Galstaun College", with events and activities set to capture the community's imagination and involvement.

"Galstaun College belongs to the community and it is with the community that we wish to celebrate this milestone year," said Hacobian.

All stakeholders and community organisation representatives declared their support for and commitment to the planned activities.

At the end of the evening, outgoing Galstaun College caretaker James Buckland was given an emotional standing ovation by the attendees for his five years of dedicated service.

Buckland said: "Leaving Galstaun College has been one of the hardest decisions of my life."

He added: "Your Community has a unique and beautiful pace here and I hope it never takes it for granted."
