SYDNEY: The Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU) has congratulated the Hon. Dominic Perrottet MP on his ascension to the position of Premier of New South Wales.
After the first Armenian-Australian to lead a state, the Hon. Gladys Berejiklian stepped down, her Government’s former Treasurer was elected to the post by his party colleagues. Perrottet has since named a new cabinet.
ANC-AU Executive Director Haig Kayserian said: "We congratulate Mr Perrottet on his ascension into a role we know he will capably fulfil. The Armenian National Committee of Australia looks forward to working together with Mr Perrottet and his Government in continuing to advance issues of importance to the NSW Armenian community."
The ANC-AU earlier congratulated Ms Berejiklian for her service as Premier for the past four and a half years.
“We thank Ms Gladys Berejiklian for her leadership in navigating Australia's largest state through some of its most challenging periods, including bushfires, droughts, floods and the COVID-19 pandemic,” Kayserian added.
“Ms Berejiklian always served as a beacon of pride to Armenian-Australians and this is something for which we will always be grateful.”
