SYDNEY: Long-serving Principal, Mr. Kaylar Michaelian ended his tenure at Galstaun College in 2010 after 13 years guiding the largest day school in the Armenian-Australian community.
Galstaun College Alumni Executive member Khajag Moskofian spoke at Mr. Michaelian's fairwell Speech Night, and the full words of his address are below:
Good evening board, community members, parents, alumni, staff, students, and of course, Mr. Kaylar Michaelian,
It saddens me too stand here today as Galstaun College not only loses a leader, but a father.
Since the very day that Mr. Kaylar Michaelian stepped foot into this College thirteen years ago, he offered assistance, guidance, support and most importantly, love to each and every single one of his staff and students.
Baron Michaelian, you gave us an experience like no other, you taught us to be proud of our College, of our culture and, most importantly, of ourselves. You lit a flame in each and every single one of us, and taught us to pass it onto our children and to our future generation.
On behalf of the Alumni and current student body, I would like to thank you.
Baron Michaelian, you have been a tireless worker and have left behind a legacy that the Galstaun College community will need to step up and protect.
Baron, the Alumni body and I pledge to protect your legacy. We will preserve your ambitions, your commitment to ensure this place is the family environment you made it, and we will help continue to fulfil the dream set out by Mr. Arshak Galstaun and his fellow benefactors.
