SYDNEY: Galstaun College has continued its advancement in the technology space by adopting 'Google Apps for Education' for staff email, communication and collaboration.

The Sydney Armenian community's largest day school has recently improved its on-site IT facilities with faster internet connection, new servers and computers, as well as hiring experienced IT professional and eLearning teacher Joseph Messiha.

This latest partnership with Google - the largest and fastest growing online company in the world - confirms Galstaun College's commitment to providing an ideal technical environment for staff, students and the community.

Google Apps for Education was rolled out to all staff courtesy of web developer and College Alumni Haig Kayserian. It means that staff can immediately take advantage of famous Google products, including Gmail (for email), Chat (for instant messaging) and Calendar (for appointments management).

In a future roll-out, staff will also benefit from Google Apps products including Docs (for document creation and sharing), Talk (for voice calls) and Mobile Sync (for bringing their email to their mobile devices).

Kayserian said: "The advantages of providing Google Apps for Galstaun College staff are multi-fold.

"Each staff member now has 7.5 gigabytes of email storage capacity on Google's very reliable servers, ensuring maximum availability and security.

"Staff can access emails from wherever they are, making them more accessible to parents and students.

"And they can communicate with fellow staff members in a variety of previously-unavailable methods such as Instant Messaging and Document-sharing."

Galstaun College joins a select and illustrious group of educational institutions as early adopters of Google Apps for Education. Locally, these include Monash University and the New South Wales Department of Education and Training. Internationally, these include University of Southern California and the University of Notre Dame.
