SYDNEY: The Armenian Youth Federation of Australia (AYF Australia) raised $4,000 for the Syrian-Armenian Relief Fund at its recently hosted "Kebab and Kef night".
With over 120 people in attendance, AYF Australia held a night with music, kebab, bingo and lotteries, among activities to help raise money for the very important cause.
In addition to their valuable financial contribution, guests were also asked to bring 2 cans of tinned food in order to support the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal, and over the course of the night, organisers collected 6 boxes of food that was donated to Captain Clayton Spence, who attended the evening on behalf of the Salvation Army.
Captain Spence also spoke about the importance of the Christmas Appeal as well as thanking the AYF Australia for its efforts in supporting the work undertaken by the Salvation Army.
AYF Australia Chairman, Aram Tufenkjian said: "It is great to see members of the Armenian community supporting the work the AYF does, even moreso when we are contributing to help our brothers and sisters in Syria, as well as the needy in our local Australian community."
"We would like to thank all those who attended as well as the individuals who made separate monetary donations to help Syrian Armenians. We also thank the Salvation Army for the work they do."
"The AYF Australia executive and members would also like to thank all those who gave up their time to help with the preparation, as the night would not have otherwise been as successful as it was."
