Game of the Week
Senior Men B vs NFC.
Robbie Aghajanian & Harry Batrounian came up from u/18 to play with the senior men. Traditionally it has been a bruising encounter with NFC, with the last game against the bitter rivals leaving Arin DV with NFC, with the last game against the bitter rivals leaving Arin DV with a dislocated nose. It promised to be a cracker, and it sure was!
Down by 16 points at half-time, the B team hussled hard and bodied up against the bigger NFC team.
A solid performance by Zac Boyadjian (Zachary & Ivory) and Harry B at centre cobined with a brilliant backcourt performance by Vicken Jambazian (Veej) & Narek Michaelian (RV) had the B's catch up to NFC.
A huge 3 point play by RV gave them a chance to hit the lead... and they were up for the first time in the game. NFC went to the line and sunk 1 free-throw to tie the game. Then with an Antranig turnover with 48secs left on the clock, the game looked like NFC's, until an intercept by DV pushed up to Veej, gave Veej and open fast break lay-up to seal the victory for Homenetmen Antranig in a rough & tough matchup. 38-36.
Honourable Mention About Our New Champions
Last week our Under 9 Football team won the Gladesville-Hornsby Football Association Championship!
Coached by Roupen Manjikian, the boys put up a flawless effort against the valiant Beecroft team, winning the Grand Final match in front of a healthy crowd of family and friends 2 - 0.
Also, an honourable mention to our Under 12's took the minor premiership. Unfortunately they couldn't go all the way this year, but the future looks bright for the young guns.
