Game of the Week 1

Senior Men B vs Hey Now

There were elbows flying everyone, plenty of pushing and shoving, tech fouls and referee calls coming from all over the place, which grabbed everyone's attention at Rooftop on Sunday night.

Hey Now came back from a half-time deficit to tie the game against the Senior B team, and it was neck-and-neck with a few minuted to play. Hey Now tieing the game with a classy drive through the middle of the key and converting a 3-point play took the game to be decided in the final seconds.

However it was a referee's call that decided the match with 26 seconds left to play when Antranig were looking for a game winning shot.

Boof (Michael V. Momdjian) takes an inbound pass from the baseline, looking to push the ball up in possibly the final play of the game, when the referee blew his whistle, "line violation". Everyone on and around the court were flabbergasted as they saw a stunned Boof still standing behind the baseline. As baffled as all the players and spectators were at the absurd call, it was an absolute anti-climax to what was an all-out entertaining slug fest. The loss leaving the B team fighting relegation.

Game of the Week 2

Senior Men A vs Reflections

The A's started off the match with their usual 10 point handicap giving Reflections a neat little buffer. But the boys looked very composed as they ran through their sets and balanced the game with inside and outside shooting. Our boys rallied late in the first half to tie the game at halftime.

Early in the second half, Reflections surprise Antranig applying a full court press, and momentum began to shift. Their #11 went on a individual shooting spree, taking it to the basket on every posession and widening the their lead. Until Levy (Leon Shohmelian) put a stop to that with a HUGE block on #11 the next time he tried to take it to the basket. The A's lifted from this play and the backcourt trio of Nasri (Eli Nasri), VVL (Vicken Jambazian) and Boggo (Hratch Boghossian) begam to run quick and tidy transitions, in combination with Furry (Steve Ferhad) shutting down the oppositions inside sets to ensure they got the victory.

With 3 seconds left on the clock, Furry looked like he was going to pull up for a rare, but much desired 3-pointer, when he decided to dish it to the 3-point specialist Zee (Zareh Deyirmendjian) instead to net a 3 on the buzzer, putting the exclamation mark on a very entertaining match 63 - 55.
