ADELAIDE: A forum exhibition on Armenian culture and history opened at the Migration Museum in Adelaide, South Australia on Saturday, March 3. Entitled “Armenia – 17 centuries of Christianity”, the exhibition is organised by the Armenian Cultural Association of Australia and will be open to the public until the end of May 2012.

The President of the Armenian Cultural Association of South Australia, Elena Harrison, reports that the exhibition features information on Armenian culture and customs, significant events in Armenian history such as the Armenian Genocide, as well as sections on the various Armenian communities of Australia, including the Adelaide Armenian community.

“As a community we have been very active on the multicultural scene in Adelaide. In recent months, we have participated in several events such as the Christmas Pageant and the Australia Day Parade, introducing our culture to other communities in Adelaide,” said Harrison.

“With this exhibition, we wanted to present more in-depth information about Armenian culture, the Armenian Genocide and the history of Armenian presence in Australia not just to the wider public in Adelaide, but also the many tourists who visit the Migration Museum.”

Over the next three months, an estimated 25,000 visitors to the museum will be able to view the exhibition, according to Harrison.

“I urge all members of our community to publicize this event among family and friends and I hope we will also get some visitors from the Australia wide Armenian communities,” said Harrison who is also the Representative of the Armenian National Committee of Australia in Adelaide.

The Armenian National Committee of Australia provided part of the content for the exhibition.
