YEREVAN (ARMENPRESS)—Forty years after its construction, the Musaler History Museum is currently being restored in preparation for the 100^th anniversary of the historic Musaler battle. The museum in Yerevan is set to commemorate the battle on September 20 with new exhibitions and over 5000 artifacts.

In an interview with Armenpress, Lusine Voskanyan, a guide at the Musaler Museum, said that the museum will be turned into a “symbolic ship,” and the stories of the people of Musaler will be told on the boat deck.

“The ship is very symbolic [for] Musaler, as the people of Musaler were saved by ships, and this is the reason that a decision was made to turn the exhibition hall from within into a ship, on the upper part of which short films about the people of Musaler and the heroic battle will be shown,” said Voskanyan.

“There are over 5000 samples at the museum. All of them were delivered to the Museum by the people of Musaler. There are tools, rifles, manuscripts, letters, and pictures,” Voskanyan said.

The oldest artifact in the museum is a sewing machine, which museum staff calls “fugitive.” A part of the museum will be dedicated to Franz Werfel, author of The Forty Days of Musa Dagh. A fountain in the shape of a flower will also be constructed.

The commemoration of the battle will begin on the evening of September 19, where traditional “harisa” will be served. The opening ceremony of the renovated museum will be held on September 20.
