Armenian Piano Virtuoso Tigran Hamasyan Brings Manifeste to Sydney

One of the most distinctive voices in contemporary music, Tigran Hamasyan brings a powerful, genre-defying sound that fuses jazz improvisation, progressive rock, and the deep-rooted folk traditions of his native Armenia.

Returning to Australia, on the back of a sell-out tour, and performing for one night only at Sydney’s Seymour Centre, Hamasyan creates a sound entirely his own, with his new work, Manifeste.

Born in Gyumri, Armenia, Hamasyan has been hailed as “one of the most remarkable and distinctive jazz-meets-rock pianists of his generation.” His music moves from meditative to explosive, weaving intricate rhythms and ancient melodies into a bold, modern aesthetic - both ancient and futuristic, rich with storytelling, raw emotion and technical brilliance.

Praised by Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau and Chick Corea, Hamasyan has earned global acclaim, including top prizes at the Montreux Jazz Festival (2003) and the Thelonious Monk Competition (2005), alongside major international awards.

Joining him is support act Zela Margossian Quintet, a Sydney-based, ARIA-nominated ethno-jazz ensemble melding Armenian traditional music with jazz and classical roots. The group has performed across four continents, from the Sydney Opera House to the Barbican in London to the Beirut International Jazz Festival.

With Manifeste, Hamasyan redefines contemporary piano performance - fearless,boundary-pushing and utterly unforgettable.
