With only six weeks until performance weekend, everyone at Galstaun College is extremely busy learning choreography, remembering words to songs and scenes, and looking for exciting pieces of costume.

Having focused predominately on the High School students up until the end of Term 2, it is now down to business for all the Primary school classes. Every class in the primary school will be performing one song from a Disney musical, complete with a short acting scene before or after the song, and will learn a dance routine to perform whilst singing their years chosen song.

Friday 23rd July marked the first rehearsal for Year 2, and they were very excited to be getting up on stage and learning their parts. Year 2 will be performing the very popular song ‘The Bare Necessities' from the Disney musical, The Jungle Book. Harout Hovivian will play the role of the Jungle boy ‘Mowgli' and Arpi Sahakian will play the role of the laid back, lovable bear ‘Baloo'.

Every Year 2 student will be representing a jungle animal and Ms Jarman (year 2 teacher) will be working with her class weekly to ensure all dancing, singing and acting is perfected by September.

Year 2 has been an incredible force in promoting this school musical so far. In term 2, we held a poster competition for students to design a poster that will be used as promotion and advertising for the musical performances, and year 2 were by far the most creative and dedicated.

Two posters, one by Reuben Evanian and the other by Aren Simonian, were selected to advertise the show around the school and the Armenian community, and another poster by Natalie Vahratian was selected to be the front and back cover of the program that will be available for purchase at the front door of the musical. This enthusiasm and excitement for a whole school musical event demonstrates the pride our students feel in their school and their abilities.

Performances will be at 7pm on Friday September 10th and Saturday 11th, and a Sunday matinee performance at 2pm September 12th . Tickets are available at Galstaun College Administration, as of Monday 2nd August.
