GENEVA (News.am) — From January 1 to 11, a total of 18,882 immigrants and refugees reached Europe through the Mediterranean Sea, whereas 53 others were killed at sea. Out of these immigrants and refugees that reached Europe, among them were 9 Armenians.
Spokesperson of the International Organization for Migration, Joel Millman, stated the aforementioned at a briefing in Geneva, Switzerland.
As per Millman, most of these immigrants and refugees are still heading for Greece, as it was in 2015.
He added that there were 2 Russian, 3 Georgian, 3 Kazakh, 2 Moldovan, 7 Tajik, 3 Turkmen, 3 Ukrainian, and 15 Uzbek citizens among those who arrived in Greece during the abovementioned period.
