The Armenian Evangelical World Council (AEWC) has appointed Rev. Dr. Krikor Youmshajekian as its new Executive Director for an initial two-year term, marking a significant leadership transition for the global Armenian Evangelical community.

The Armenian Evangelical World Council (AEWC) held its regular annual meeting on October 16–17 in Glendale, California, gathering representatives from the five Armenian Evangelical Unions worldwide, the Armenian Missionary Association of America (AMAA), and the Stephen Philibosian Foundation.

The session opened with prayer and a biblical reflection led by AEWC President Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian. The Council formally welcomed Serge D. Buchakjian as the new CEO and Executive Director of the AMAA. Members also offered heartfelt appreciation to AEWC Executive Director Rev. Dr. Vahan Tootikian, honoring more than twenty-two years of dedicated service, as well as acknowledging the steadfast support of his wife, Rosette Tootikian.

During the meeting, Council officers, representatives of the church unions, and partner organizations presented their annual written and oral reports. The AEWC Board reviewed the past year’s initiatives, assessing progress in collaboration among the Armenian Evangelical Unions, the AMAA, and affiliated global institutions. Discussions also focused on preparations for the 180th anniversary of the Armenian Evangelical Church, to be commemorated in 2026; an important milestone in the history of the worldwide Armenian Evangelical community.

In a spirit of unity and fellowship, members joined in collective prayer for the renewal of the Church’s mission through deeper discipleship and faithful service. Special prayers were offered for the Republic of Armenia and Armenians around the world during this critical period; for justice and peace; for the restoration of human dignity; and for the forcibly displaced indigenous Armenian population of Artsakh, political prisoners, victims of violence and genocide across the globe, and all of God’s creation.

Reaffirming its mission, the Council emphasized its ongoing commitment to serving Armenians worldwide, strengthening the Armenian Evangelical heritage, advancing Christian education, and extending compassionate outreach to those in need—wherever the Church is called to witness.

The Armenian Evangelical World Council unanimously voted to appoint the Rev. Dr. Krikor Youmshajekian as the new Executive Director of the AEWC for an initial period of two years.

The meeting concluded with a closing prayer and benediction offered by outgoing Executive Director Rev. Dr. Vahan H. Tootikian.
