Kim and Khloe Kardashian met with Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan on Thursday

YEREVAN—Kim and Khloe Kardashian, who are on their first visit to Armenia, told Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan that they will fight for the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, pledging to advance unity among Armenians, reported the Public Radio of Armenia—armradio.am.

The Prime Minister met with the Kardashian sisters as they kick off a week-long trip to Armenia—what they have called a journey to explore their ancestral homeland.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the Kardashian family’s contribution to the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and welcomed their visit on the threshold of the Armenian Genocide centennial.

Abrahamyan hailed the fact that members of the Kardashian family never forget their roots and added that their visit would make our country better recognizable.

Kim and Khloe thanked the Prime Minister for the welcome and said they were impressed by Armenia and the hospitality of its citizens. The guests said they intend to visit different historical-cultural sites in Armenia to explore their legacy and the Motherland of their ancestors.

The sisters confessed that visiting their historic Motherland had been their long-time dream and added that they are happy to be in the country of their dreams. They apologized for not speaking Armenian and said they’re working to learn the language.

Kim and Khloe leave their hotel to stroll streets of Yerevan

Earlier in the day, Kim and Khloe strolled the streets of Yerevan and stopped to pose for photos and selfies with fans.

The Kardashian sisters, along with Kim’s husband Kanye West and their daughter, North arrived in Armenia Wednesday evening to cheers and were greeted by throngs of spectators who had gathered at Yerevan’s Zvarnots Airport and elsewhere around the city, including the Marriott Hotel, where the celebrities and their entourage will be staying.

While in Armenia, they will be filming episodes to air later in the year for their popular reality series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” which airs in the United States on the E! Network.

The Kardashians’ visit to Armenia was organized by the joint efforts of the Armenia Development Fund and “SIMA Tours USA” travel company, with the support of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.

The Director of Armenia Development Fund (ADF) Arman Khachaturyan in his interview to Panorama.am said that the visit of the Kardashian family should be regarded as a family pilgrimage to the homeland of their ancestors, an act which should be but very highly praised.

ADF President particularly stressed the fact that after having been uprooted from their centuries-old homeland, cast out and orphaned, the survivors of the Armenian nation haven’t forgotten their martyrs and have fulfilled the commandment of being reborn and succeeding in life. Inspired and empowered by the vision of the renaissance of the Armenian world, they have recreated their individual and communal lives, built churches and schools and have preserved our culture.

In ADF President’s words, even after three and four generations the Armenian Diaspora has remained strong and firm and our world-famous compatriots with Armenian roots have through their persistent work become successful and influential people who pursue the demand for justice and for Genocide recognition, while Armenia has become a big source of pride and inspiration for them. In this regard the ADF plans to continuously invite famous people of Armenian descent to Armenia with the aim of fostering their ties with the homeland.
