YEREVAN (ArmenPress)-Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Serbian President Boris Tadic discussed current ties between their two countries and possible development of bilateral relations during talks in Yerevan on Tuesday.

During their conference, the two presidents exchanged ideas concerning various international and regional issues, including cooperation within international organisations.

"Promotion of political dialogue, consolidation of inter-parliamentary ties and development of trade-economic ties between the two countries are important elements of our partner relations," said Sargsyan. "Stemming from similar experiences, we came to the conclusion that regional conflicts must be regulated without usage of force and exclusively through peaceful way and negotiations in accordance with international rights."

The two presidents were quick to assure that there are no universal paths towards conflict resolution, as each situation is unique. It is impossible, according to Sargsyan, to find solutions without taking into consideration a conflict's background and myriad causes.

Sargsyan was also confident in knowing that the delegation headed by Tadic will meet in Yerevan and provide an incentive for the bolstering of relations between Armenia and Serbia.

In response, Tadic thanked his Armenian counterpart for the gracious and invitation and consequently opened the door for Sarkisian to pay a visit to Serbia. According to Tadic, there are profound historic bonds between the two nations.

"We are the people that have undergone many trials," said Tadic. "All of the challenges that Armenia and Serbia are facing demand serious solutions. I am sure that the policy held through negotiations may bring a long-lasting peace between us."

Tadic, whose country was one of the few European nations that voted in March 2008 for an Azeri drafted UN General Assembly on Karabakh, went on to express hope that his visit will give an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation in economic, educational and cultural spheres. An agreement has been reached between the presidents on creating task groups for the consolidation of partnership in these various spheres.
