YEREVAN—President Serzh Sarkisian said Wednesday that Azerbaijan is waiting for the right moment to resume military “adventures”—attacks.

Speaking at a press conference with Lithuania’s visiting president, Dalia Grybauskaite, Sarkisian pledged Armenia’s commitment for a peaceful resolution to the Nagrono-Karabakh conflict. Lithuania holds the OSCE presidency this year.

“Unfortunately, Azerbaijan continues to escalate the situation with continued statements that do not correspond with any norms of civilized dialogue and which seriously harm the negotiation process,” said Sarkisian.

“As a tactic, Azerbaijan has opted for a policy to drag out [the talks] and is waiting for the right moment to resume military activities,” added Sarkisian who expressed Armenia’s willingness to work with the negotiation parameters.

“However, to achieve a resolution, it is imperative that Azerbaijan have the same desire,” expressed Sarkisian.

In her remarks, Grybauskaite ruled out any military resolution to the conflict, saying that a peaceful solution is possible.

“No one, and in that realm, no international organization will never support a military solution,” said the Lithuanian leader.
