YEREVAN (Armenpress)—Instigate, CJSC, a microelectronics and robotics company operating in Armenia’s Free Economic Zone, is busy pushing to bring production of unmanned aerial vehicles to Armenia, Armenpress reports.
Instigate has produced and tested a number of prototype drones and says it is ready for mass production. The drones are small in size and designed for civilian use, such as in agriculture, firefighting, and package delivery, areas in which the use of drones is speculated to grow in the near future.
Chief Engineer at Instigate Vahagn Poghosyan says the company is currently in talks with major investors over a potential deal to supply US farmers with the company’s “Agrocopter” line of drones.
“This is a long-term program in need of major investment,” says Poghosyan. “Instigate cannot realize it alone. The business plan is not fully ready yet, so I cannot tell you clearly how many million dollars of investment is necessary. We have already had meetings with potential investors in California. They have expressed their interest in the project and currently we are engaged in the development of the business plan,” Poghosyan explained.
