LOS ANGELES—The Armenian Genocide was trending at #2 on Twitter and other social media on Thursday when between the hours of 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. a national movement to raise awareness about the Armenian Genocide kicked off at the initiative of the Armenian Youth Federation and the All Armenian Student Association.
Total tweets sent on Thursday with the hash tag #ArmenianGenocide reached 16,715. The hash tag trended at the #2 spot on Twitter for two hours and then continued to trend at #3 for another two hours after that.
As thousands flocked to social media to make #ArmenianGenocide a point of discussion, resulting in the high-visibility trending, silent protests were held across college campuses in California raising awareness for the Armenian Genocide outside the month of April.
