Armenia’s Minister of the Economy Vahram Avanesyan, presenting the agreement to other ministers at Thursday’s cabinet meeting, noted that the countries’ governments signed a similar agreement in 1993 that lasted for ten years.
“The agreement term has already expired and, in fact, by signing this new agreement we resume our cooperation with Georgia in the tourism area,” he said.
According to Georgia’s interior ministry, some 1.28 million Armenian citizens visited Georgia in 2013. Armenia is the second largest provider of travelers to Georgia.
