Armenian Genocide Museum, Yerevan
The Museum’s director Hayk Demoyan presented the Hollywood film “Auction of Souls,” the first movie about the Armenian genocide, during the opening of the film festival.
The movie was produced by Oscar Apfel and first screened on February 16, 1919, at the Plaza Hotel in New York. The film is based on the book “Ravished Armenia,” a documentary of the life of Arshaluys Martikanyan who was an eyewitness of the Armenian Genocide from Chmshkatsag.
The film festival will feature seven films about the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust from Israel, Armenia, and Italy.
