YEREVAN—An Armenian soldier, Mher Hakobyan, 24, was killed by enemy fire at a military outpost in the southern regions of the “line of contact” between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
“The Ministry of Defense shares the sorrow of this heavy loss and expressed support to Mher Hakobyan’s family and friends,” a report of the incident from the Ministry says.
A probe into the details of the incident is under way.
For bravery shown during the defense of the Artsakh Republic’s state border, Artsakh’s President Bako Sahakian posthumously awarded the Senior Lieutenant Mher Hakobyan with the “Service in Battle” medal, the President’s press office reports.
