YEREVAN (News.am)—A 25-year-old Armenian serviceman was killed on Tuesday at a military base in Armenia during a military drill, according to the Military General Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. The Committee is now launching a criminal investigation into the incident.
Ashot Hovhannisyan was killed instantly on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at around 11:40pm local time at the military base of a Ministry of Defense unit. The cause of death has been reported to be gunshot wounds sustained during a military watch drill.
According to reports, the Investigative Committee of Armenia is launching a criminal investigation into the incident on charges of violation of combat duty regulations, in accordance with part 3 of article 365 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
