A team of close to 50 doctors and other medical staff from the United States will provide free medical services at Armenia’s Noyemberyan Hospital from October 16-21.

NOYEMBERYAN, Armenia (Hayasdan All Armenia Fund)—Through the joint initiative of Glendale Adventist Medical Center (GAMC) and the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s US Western Region affiliate, a team of close to 50 doctors and other medical staff from the United States will provide free medical services at Armenia’s Noyemberyan Hospital from October 16 to 21, benefiting more than 1,000 patients from throughout the Tavush and Lori regions. The services include ophthalmological, maxillofacial, gynecological, and other surgeries, in addition to check-ups and general medical care. The mission will be headed by GAMC president and CEO Kevin Roberts.

Prior to the provision of the services, an initial group of medical professionals has arrived in Noyemberyan to prepare the medical equipment, instruments, and medicines that have been donated to Noyemberyan Hospital within the framework of the mission. The preparations are being implemented in strict compliance with American healthcare standards.

The first joint GAMC-Hayastan Fund US Western Region affiliate medical mission was carried out at Noyemberyan Hospital in the fall of 2015, when a team of doctors and other medical professionals from GAMC performed 40 surgeries and provided a broad range of services to over 900 area residents. As part of the project, GAMC donated a fully equipped ambulance; advanced medical machinery, including anesthesia machines, and surgical instruments; as well as medicines to Noyemberyan Hospital. Another ambulance was donated to the hospital by the Fund’s American-Armenian benefactor Antranig Baghdassarian.

In 2010, Noyemberyan Hospital was rebuilt, refurnished, and provided with medical equipment through the joint support of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s German, Swiss, Australian, and Lebanese affiliates. Located a mere five kilometers from the border with Azerbaijan, Noyemberyan Hospital is of immense strategic and psychological importance to the region’s Armenian population.
