YEREVAN—Olympic champion Artur Aleksanyan on Tuesday was named Armenia’s ‘Best Athlete’ in 2016 for the third year in a row, according to a vote by the Republican Federation of Sports Journalists of Armenia.
Aleksanyan, a Greco-Roman wrestler born in Gyumri, has won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, is a two-time World Champion (2014, 2015), and a three-time European Champion (2012, 2013, 2014).
In 2016, the 25-year-old secured the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
