Four Drones Downed. One Civilian Killed, Two Injured in Gegharkunik
Armenia’s Air Defense Forces downed an “enemy” drone flying over the Kotayk Province, some 13 miles away from Yerevan, Armenia’s Defense Ministry spokesperson Shushan Stepanyan said late Thursday local time.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a Facebook post that four drones had infiltrated Armenia’s airspace in the provinces of Kotayk and Ghegharkunik. All four drones have been downed by Armenia’s Armed Forces.
Armenia’s Foreign Ministry said it was analyzing the situation and would decided whether it should apply to the Collective Security Treaty Organization—a Russia-led security alliance, which includes Armenia as a members.
The enemy fired in the direction of Shatvan village of Gegharkunik region, as well as fired a missile from a combat drone at Mets Masrik settlement as a result of which Gevorg Vardanyan, born in 1967, was killed, two civilians were also injuried.
