SYDNEY: Over 50 Sydney Armenian youth responded to a Facebook call to action by the Armenian Youth Federation of Australia (AYF Australia), gathering to prepare banners for THIS SUNDAY'S PROTEST against the denial of the Armenian Genocide.
AYF Australia organised the protest, to be held Sunday 18th of April at the NSW Turkish Consulate (66 Ocean Street, Woollahra), to kick off Armenian Genocide Commemoration Week.
AYF Australia Chairperson Kevork Tufenkjian said the show of support from Armenian youth at large was an encouraging sign for the community.
"The memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide is safe as the response from our youth in faraway Australia shows we will not rest until justice is delivered and Turkey recognises the Armenian Genocide," Tufenkjian said.
BUSES FROM RYDE (ARARAT SCOUT HALL, SANTA ROSA PARK) and WILLOUGHBY (ARMENIAN CULTURAL CENTRE, 259 PENSHURST STREET) will depart at 12noon and return at 3pm.
A BUS FROM BONNYRIGG (PANOYAN CENTRE, 682 CABRAMATTA ROAD) will depart at 11:30am and return at 3:30pm.
