SYDNEY: Over 400 Sydney Armenians were in attendance at a Dinner Dance to celebrate the 94th anniversary of Armenia's first Independence Day on Saturday 26 May, 2012.

Superstar singer Joseph Krikorian, invited from the United States, was accompanied by his organist Arutyun Chiroglyan and local band members, and they entertained the gathered until the early hours of the next morning.

Before Krikorian was invited to the stage, Sevag Varjabedian, the event's Master of Ceremonies, took the audience through the history of the historic battles of Sartarabad, Ghara Kilise and Pash Abaran.

Garo Keshishian delivered the official Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Australia Tro Gomide address, stating the Independence of May 28 1918 was key to the establishment of today's free Armenia. He called on the gathered youth to maintain the battling spirit of their forefathers as there was still plenty to achiev for the Armenian people.

Krikorian ended the event leading the audience with over an hour of Armenian revolutionary songs.

Joseph Krikorian will be sent off from Sydney at a Mediterranean Night at the Armenian Cultural Centre in Willoughby on Friday evening - 1 June, 2012. Please call 0415 445 966 for further information and tickets.
