SYDNEY: Last weekend, families and friends of Galstaun College students were treated to a new standard of musical performance with the K-12 Musical Review.

Miss Andrea Getley, Head of Performing Arts at Galstaun College, directed and choreographed the performance which included hit songs from musical favourites like Annie, Godspell, Lion King, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins, the Little Mermaid and Oliver.

In total, around 800 people enjoyed the performances which took place over three nights and included all members of the Primary School and many students from the Vocal Ensemble and High School Choir.

Music was provided by a band comprising of students from High School and Primary School who displayed considerable talent in learning so many pieces in such a short time.

Guests who attended the Opening Night performance were invited to attend a Champagne Reception after the show.

Getley said: "Special appreciation must go to the Galstaun College Parents and Friends Association, whose members built a wonderful stage extension, to the parents who made costumes and helped with make-up and hairstyles, and to the staff who spent many hours rehearsing with the performers after school, during the holidays and on weekends."

Head of College Carolyn Blanden said: "Miss Andrea Getley and Miss Sally Band as director and producer were generously assisted by Mr John Smart who built the sets and Mr Haig Lepedjian who painted the backdrops, with the assistance of students from the College."

"The most encouraging outcome from this wonderful event was the discovery of some exceptional talent among the students, which Miss Getley is already planning to put to good use in next year's production."
