Popular federal parliamentarian, the Hon. Joe Hockey MP, will climb the world's highest freestanding mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), to help raise funds for children's charity, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.
Shadow Treasurer Hockey, of Armenian descent, will be joined Sunrise host David Koch and other trekkers supporting this great cause, aiming to raise $1million for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.
Hockey has undergone a strict training regime in the lead-up to the July 29 climb and is excited ahead of it.
"As a parent and also a Member of Parliament, there is nothing more important than ensuring that our children get the best support we can give them," he said.
"An accident or a serious illness is a parent's worse fear and by helping the Humpty Dumpty Foundation we can ensure that our children's hospitals are better equipped.
"For me, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro is both a way to raise funds - it's the ultimate walkathon - but also a reminder that no matter how hard the climb will be for us, it is insignificant compared to the pain of the children we are helping."
