SYDNEY: Over 100 ex-students, former and current teachers, staff and guests attended the Galstaun College Alumni Association's BACK TO SCHOOL BBQ on Sunday 16 August in Ingleside.
Representatives from the College's first graduating class of 1996 all the way through to representatives of the most recent graduating class of 2008 were in attendance, while most classes in between were also represented at the event.
The former students marked formal proceedings with a moment's applause to celebrate the life of school benefactor Mr. Arshak Galstaun, who passed away a year ago.
Principal Mr. Kaylar Michaelian addressed the ex-students, saying this was a happy day for Galstaun College, and a sign that the school's products were ready to take ownership of their educational home.
Long-time teachers Ms. Jennifer Hammond, Mr. Asadour Shokayan and Mrs. Eugenie Meguerditchian also addressed the gathered with their thoughts and memories.
The mood was jovial, with some former students catching up on each other's lives, while others spent much of their time playing ball games on the oval.
Galstaun Alumni Chairperson, Haig Kayserian thanked all ex-students for attending this event, while also acknowledging the efforts of the organising committee.
He said: "The Alumni Association's job is to make sure the community hears about our successes post graduation. Our job is to publicise ourselves as successful products of Galstaun College, thus a place all Armenian-Australian kids must attend."
