Australians to support Nagorno Karabakh with #ARTSAKHSTRONG TELETHON on July 18

SYDNEY and MELBOURNE: On Monday July 18, from 7pm to 10:30pm, the #ARTSAKHSTRONG TELETHON has been organised to allow Australians to help protect the territorial integrity of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh).

In early April, 2016, Azerbaijan launched an attack on Artsakh, with the intention to destroy the self-determined nation of Christian Armenians. The Armenian and Artsakh armies successfully deflected the attacks, which ground to a halt after international intervention after four days of fighting.

The carnage meant the loss of civilian Armenian lives, while Azerbaijan's administration continues its unveiled threats against the sovereignty of the Armenians of Artsakh.

Homes were destroyed in key border cities, the families of victim soldiers were left desolate, while the Army faces the task to rebuild and modernise in the face of continued threats.

A foundation has been created to assist with all of the aforementioned goals, and the #ARTSAKHSTRONG TELETHON will add the contributions of Armenian-Australians to that fund.

The Telethon is being organised, under the auspices of Kaylar Michaelian - Australia's Permanent Representative of the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Armenia Media, Inc., the Armenian National Committee of Australia, the Armenian Youth Federation of Australia, Hamazkaine, Homenetmen and the Armenian Relief Society.

On Monday July 18th, between the times of 7pm and 10:30pm, the community is asked to call 0487-000-748 and make their pledges for donation.

The #ARTSAKHSTRONG TELETHON can be followed by watching live videos at www.facebook.com/ArmeniaOnline or listening to 99.3FM in Sydney.

There will be interviews with community leaders, contributors, while announcements of the donations will feature in the coverage.

See you on the evening of July 18th!
