Ara Gevorgyan's Sydney Concert fills The Concourse

SYDNEY: On Monday, 6th March 2017, around 1,000 Sydney Armenians were treated to a Free Concert at The Concourse in Chatswood, featuring legendary composer and musician, Ara Gevorgyan.

Gevorgyan was joined on stage by 16 fellow musicians and singers from Armenia and abroad, as well as dance groups from Sydney and the United States of America.

This concert was organised by the Homenetmen Ararat and Hamazkaine Nairi (Ararat/Nairi) joint chapter, after the original Ara Gevorgyan Concert - scheduled to be held two days earlier at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour - was cancelled by the venue. A statement from Ararat/Nairi released before the event, read:

"Due to circumstances we would rather not dwell on, the venue terminated the event on contractual grounds, leaving the overseas acts, volunteer performers, event sponsors and patrons disappointed. The Homenetmen Ararat and Hamazkaine Nairi joint chapter was to be among the volunteer performers at this event with our Nairi Dance Group, and have decided that "the show must go on" in the best interests of the Sydney Armenian community."

And the show did go on, with an unforgettable showcase presented to the packed audience.
