SYDNEY: Galstaun College will be bringing its 25th Anniversary celebrations to a very eventful end for the community this Sunday 11 December starting from 12 noon.
The Parents and Friends Association of Galstaun College has organised an Armenian Festival, featuring traditional food, stalls, live entertainment by various bands, backgammon competition, jumping castle and other games, at the College's picturesque campus in Ingleside.
The Festival will coincide with the College's traditional Carols by Candlelight which has become an important family event at the end of the school year and before the festive season for the entire Sydney Armenian Community.
The Armenian Festival will also feature an attempt to record for the first time "Australia's Biggest Shoorchbar" by inviting all community members to attend and participate in the largest Shoorchbar to be recorded in Australia.
On the same day, Galstaun College will also officially open its Stage 1 of the Smoky Dawson Centre, Multipurpose Hall on the College Campus which has been made possible by the Federal Government's Building Education Revolution, as the well as the selfless dedication and contribution by members of our Community.
The day's festivities and Galstaun College's celebrations of the 25th Anniversary will finish with spectacular fireworks in the evening.
Asadour Shoukayan, the Head of Armenian Studies at Galstaun College, said: "Our College's Christmas Carols have become an important tradition for the Sydney Armenian Community. This year, with the addition of the Armenian Festival, the opening of our Multipurpose Hall, Australia's Biggest Shoorchbar and fireworks, it will be a fitting culmination of our 25th Anniversary celebrations.
"The entire Sydney Armenian Community is welcome."
