PARIS—A group of legislators from the Lower and Upper houses of the French parliament, as well as former representatives and several municipal leaders came together to establish a France-Artsakh Friendship Group on Tuesday, reported Armenpress.
The document that was approved on Tuesday says:
“Taking into consideration the absolute importance freedoms and democratic principles reinforced by the International Convention on Human Rights, and;
By supporting the people’s right to self-determination, including that rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic—Artsakh;
Taking into consideration the imperative for the establishment of lasting peace and security in the South Caucasus;
Assisting the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen’s continued efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Artsakh conflict and France efforts to that effect;
Welcoming the continued efforts by the people and government of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic to develop and advance a free and democratic society; and
The marginalization of the people of Artsakh from international activities does not benefit dialogue between peoples and regional stability;
We, political officials in France, members of parliament and senators announce the creation of a friendship group with Artaskh.”
The announcement was signed by the first deputy mayor of Marseilles, Roland Blume; members of French parliament Valerie Boyer, Francois Roshebloun, Rene Rouquet, as well as senators Sophie Joise, Phillipe Marie and former parliament member Georges Colomier and others.
Following the signing of the agreement, the political officials began circulating the document and urging others to join the Friendship Group.
